Empowering future leaders with essential skills to combat climate change

HONG KONG, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- AXA Hong Kong and Macau ("AXA") launched the AXA Climate School in 2022, aiming to empower young talents in Hong Kong, who are eager to expand their knowledge of sustainability, which is essential for driving positive change in our communities to tackle climate change. In its third anniversary, AXA has extended the online course to all young talents in Hong Kong and further enhanced the programme with advanced and business-focused e-learning modules and an innovative structure to better prepare future leaders for the challenges of our evolving climate.

The AXA Climate School offers a comprehensive free online course for young talents in Hong Kong, aiming to get our future leaders to being climate ready. This year, the partnership has been expanded to seven local leading universities from five, including The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Metropolitan University and Hong Kong Shue Yan University. This allows us to engage a broader pool of young talents and benefit those eager to deepen their understanding of sustainability.

Sally Wan, Chief Executive Officer, AXA Greater China, said, " AXA is dedicated to addressing climate changes and empowering the next generation, as we believe young people are vital in shaping a sustainable future. Education is central to this mission, equipping future leaders with the knowledge and skills to tackle climate challenges and drive meaningful change toward a more resilient world. As part of this commitment, we are proud to enhance the AXA Climate School programme by integrating digital elements, offering advanced e-learning modules, and introducing an improved structure. This initiative not only elevates climate education but also reinforces AXA's leadership in combating climate change. We aim to inspire and nurture young leaders in their journey to create a more sustainable future, further solidifying AXA's position as the first insurer to pioneer a public climate education initiative."

Running from 3 March to 25 April 2025, the programme features:

  • Four mandatory e-learning courses: These courses provide foundational knowledge on sustainability and the essentials of a climate transition roadmap, focusing on Business and Sustainability, The Low-Carbon Transition, Acting on Carbon Footprint and How Organisations adapt to Climate Change .
  • More than 20 optional courses: Learners can explore specialised topics tailored for various professions, including Human Resources, Risk Management, Sales, Marketing & Communications, Procurement, Facilities Management, and Legal.
  • Complimentary live expert webinar: Learners can engage directly with climate and business experts in an interactive setting, covering different critical topics such as sustainability decoding, global trends and regulations, and the future of jobs in a green economy.

Taking proactive steps to address climate change has been a core mission of AXA. With accumulated participants approximately 1,000 university students, the programme has made significant strides in engaging and empowering young leaders. Beyond the AXA Climate School, AXA also remains committed to integrating sustainability into its business propositions. This includes proactively driving efforts to combat climate change and leveraging its expertise in climate risk assessment through the launch of the market-first "Heatwave Parametric Insurance," showcasing its leadership in innovative climate solutions and our commitment to creating sustainable future.
