Only China-based youth coding company in the global top 100

BEIJING, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Walnut Coding (the "Company"), a leading online platform for youth coding education, has been named one of the top 50 education technology companies in TIME's World's Top EdTech Companies 2026 ranking. The Company placed No. 44 overall and sixth among the 23 China-based companies on the 500-company list. It was also the only China-based coding education company focused on young learners to rank among the global top 100. The ranking recognizes 500 education technology companies worldwide. Walnut Coding's position in the top 50 globally comes as the Company expands its learning portfolio and increases access to coding and artificial intelligence education for young people.

Ranking evaluates financial performance and industry impact

TIME and international market and consumer data provider Statista developed the ranking after evaluating approximately 6,500 education technology companies worldwide.

According to the official methodology, financial strength accounted for 70% of each company's overall score. Statista assessed factors including revenue, funding and market capitalization, drawing on publicly available information and company disclosures.

Industry impact accounted for the remaining 30%. This assessment considered the reach and relevance of each company's products and services, their alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the quantity and value of the company's intellectual property portfolio, and website traffic.

Expanding coding and AI education offerings

Founded in 2017, Walnut Coding has developed a portfolio spanning coding courses, educational hardware, competition and assessment programs, broader skills-development products and digital publications.

The Company's proprietary learning tools include NUTS, a block-based visual coding tool designed around the learning habits and needs of children in China. The Company has also developed Walnut OJ, an online coding practice and assessment platform that includes simulated competition features.

For students preparing for programming competitions and assessments, Walnut Coding offers an integrated training model that brings together structured curricula, progressive training pathways, assessment tools and coaching support. The model is designed to help learners build their skills through a combination of instruction, practice, evaluation and guidance.

UNESCO Partnership and public-benefit programs

In 2025, Walnut Coding signed a partnership agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to support the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development 2024-2033. The partnership aims to expand access to digital education, strengthen international cooperation and encourage young people to use technology to address real-world challenges.
